When you consider that she got heart fibrillation during the sprint in Oberhof just over a month ago it is damn impressive that she manage two individual medals pluss the gold in the relay.

Really I’m swede and most don’t do that. They’re just a cross countryskiing nation which is why they’re so good at Biathlon

@Tat Min who you on about😂Sturla only had his very first race in the last season and the current one is his first real full season, with Pokljuka being his first champs. he did indeed suffer from mononucleosis in 2018, however that was before he even started training with the A team.

@Marty E it definitely is a huge step but maybe training in the summer with the boys was just what he needed to get to that level :)

@dixy will do. thank you for the recommendation. Still a huge step to take. Just shooting isnt shooting in a race or shooting under guidance of mentors and coaches. I guess he is very talented though

@Marty E I recommend you listening to an episode with Sturla in a podcast called Extra Runde. He talks about his preparations for the season and before each race, for example practicing meditation which helps him calm down and prepare for the race. He also said that he got to this level of skiing by finally training with the best of the best of Norway: Johannes, Tarjei, Vetle and Johannes D. When it comes to the range, he practiced shooting when he was ill and that's why he is so good at it. I think he is just a huge talent. We would probably see him in the world cup way sooner if it wasn't for the illness he went through in 2018. Plus, this season was not his debut in the world cup. He debuted last year and did amazing too, placing 13, 15, 10 and 11.

@Tat Min he came out of nowhere. Doesnt matter if he trained with the others. This is his first world cup season. He has already won 6 singles races, two of them at World Championships. He wasnt even dominant in the IBU Cup last season. His level spike from last season is what is so extraordinary. Biathlon is not straight line running. There is endurance, power, skiing technique, breathing technique, shooting technique, laying down technique and mental stuff involved. He got all of this in the off season or what. As another example Lisa Theresa Hauser worked hard also and improved her skiing time by 3% in the off season. That is one aspect she missed a little bit in the last seasons. Laegreid has everything at once pretty much. I am open to discuss this magic though :)
