I'm Australian and I'm with Google on this one. Why force your main source of visitors to pay you? Google is doing the news outlets a favour by linking them in the first place. As frustrating as this is, I would understand if Google pulled its search services from Australia because I'd probably do the same thing. It's like as if you have to pay a resteraunt to leave a good review for them. I would just not leave a review at all. The Australian government needs to back off.

Linking to their website RUNS traffic. Without it they know they would have even less traffic than they already do. The decline in views is simply due to their own actions as explained. They simply want to blame anyone else but themselves.

To get a hold on what is happening here in Australia, think of Rupert Murdoch as Mr Garrison. And the Australian government is Mr Hat. What sucks, I can't send PDFs through SMS message. I have to get the customers email address, or make a JPEG. And also I use Acrobat Pro 9 until they decide to kill it. I tried using wkhtmltopdf so my estimator software would create a PDF on the fly, but comes out wonky. anyone know a way to convert html to pdf without right clicking to convert, I use PERL to parse the HTML documents, then right click and convert to PDF.

I switched a relative of mine over to google play music because she had a big itunes library but an android phone with nowhere near enough storage to handle all the music. She was ready to make it her full time music player and most likely buy from google instead of apple going forward, but a few months after all her songs were uploaded, they axed it. It made me look bad, so I'm not going to recommend a google service next time something like this comes up.

Ive turn away from the mainstream media news sources along time ago and do everything to avoid ad's. I know what I want and when I want to buy it. Since the news and media is so oneside all the time and the whole Trump and Biden bull crap just showed it for what it is. This is a good thing for journalists, I see a chance for them to get their free thinking minds back and not just have to report on what the network tells them to, it could free journalists to report on worthy things in the world again.
